Sponsor and affiliate disclosure

Money never affects ranking. Order is decided only by how many different hackers recommend a tool. No one can pay to be listed, moved up, or kept off the list, and no tool can pay to hide criticism.

Today this site has no sponsors and no affiliate links. If that changes, this is the policy:

• Sponsored placements, if any, appear in a separate box labelled "sponsor" and never inside a ranked list or a quote section.
• Affiliate links, if any, carry a visible "affiliate" label and rel="sponsored".
• Every sponsor or affiliate relationship will be listed on this page with its start date.
• Rankings and downloadable data are produced by the same code for every tool and are not edited by hand.
• Tool alerts are never sold or sponsored.
